Susan Volpé, Former New York artist and resident, a graduate
from the Parson School of Design.
I enjoy working with water-based transparent and opaque paints and
inks. My early work in painting was conceived through an observation of nature and
design. My garden empowers me to paint. I see flowers which grace my
path each day and feel they are familiar friends. I embrace their beauty
and record their place on this earth. I have always felt that to invent
from what I see is far more interesting than to just paint what is
actually there.
The summer of 2003, I painted on the island of Skolpolos Greece. I
worked at the studio gallery with the Skopolos Foundation for the Arts.
The people and the island inspired me to create paintings of the landscape
there.
More recently I have enjoyed a transition in my artistic life
through photography and fashion. My photographic journey began
in 2003 with my residency in Greece. In Greece I photographed
people in their environment, everyday modern life existing in
ancient places. I have developed enhanced watercolors based on
these photographs.
In December 2006 I traveled to Italy. The work during this
period is based on this trip and my stay in Brooklyn my home town.
The transformation of Williamsburg to a new artist and gallery hot
spot was the end of this trip.
The Assunta Fox Gallery is my studio and loft space where I paint
and showcase my work. I share my walls with other California artists
and have developed a cooperative where other artists can exhibit.
Assunta Fox Gallery will enjoys first Saturday Art Walk in Santa
Ana. Our resident and guest artists will display work at this location
and at other venues contracted by Assunta Fox. The
galleries will showcase both fine and functional art handcrafted and
designed by national and international artisans. Fine Art
for sale includes, paintings, giclee' prints, mosaics, three
dimensional work and photography. Functional Art items
in our couture collection include, jewelry, shoes, hats and apparel.
Services and Representation for artists include guest artist and
resident exhibit opportunities. Marketing, consulting and
promotion. Photographic capture from original art work, color
correction and giclee' printing services. Graphic arts and
promotional material design.
We have worked with a variety of emerging and mid-career
artists. We welcome new entries and new opportunities.
Our dedication is to develop working relationships between the
artist and their public.
