Trina Strong
Since I was young, I’ve loved to observe the color and shadows of nature. I try to create paintings that give the viewer a sense of the energy found in life itself. My subject matter is varied, but throughout all of my paintings my aim is the same: to use color, texture, and shadow to give each painting its own special vibrancy. With my birds I try to give the viewer almost a sense of motion with coloring and softer backgrounds. In my petroglyph paintings I use texture, vibrant and varied colors and shadow-play to render the feeling of ageing rocks; I can almost feel the texture of the rocks were I to reach out and touch them. The Native American people have always evoked a sense of time and love for Mother Nature and therefore a great deal of respect from myself. When I paint a stylized pueblo painting I try to always use Native American symbology and bright, clean earth tones.
By painting in these simple themes, all of my paintings have a feel of the unity of life that I consider my own basic style of painting. This also has the added benefit of making each painting a unique and enjoyable experience.
My paintings can be found in private and public collections in Europe and the United States. Current exhibits include Lucille-Stoddard Women’s exhibit in Orem Utah, Artmondial Gallery in Auvigon France and the Assunta Fox Gallery in Santa Ana, California. |
