While obtaining my education, I studied the works of painters such as Picasso, Baskin, and Gaughin. Later on, I was influenced by the French and American Expressionists, with a special interest in the works of Jackson Pollock. As a student, I had the privilege of attending the workshops given by professional artists such as Jose Cuevas, Nathan Olivera and Wayne Tibold.
Collage allows me to combine the expression of emotional fragments, and tangible things which have been stored until such time that they can be combined, carefully arranged, fused together, and preserved in time.
When working from the figure, or a photograph that I have made of a subject, I strive to capture the emotional center of a unique or personal moment. While I consider myself an eclectic artist, I am presently focused on the figure and the beautiful qualities that come from within the individuals that I choose to paint. Painting has taught me that it is something that I need to do. I cannot envision myself without this source of expression.
